Punam Kersten - Director of Tennis

Punam Kersten brings a wealth of tennis experience and background to the Northshore Tennis program. Punam has been the Director of Tennis at several tennis clubs & facilities including the H.E.B. Tennis Center in Corpus Christi, Oak Forrest Country Club in Longview and the Champaign Park District in Champaign, Illinois. Punam has been the President of the San Antonio Professional Tennis Association and a USPTA/USPTR (P-1) certified tennis teaching professional. In her 17 years of teaching, she has coached local, state, nationally ranked junior players and coached USTA adult league teams, men's 4.0 /women's 3.5, to sectional and national play-offs. She is recognized by the Texas Section as a USTA National Development Coach, USTA Texas Section National Coach for the Girls and Boys 14 years olds, USTA National Clinician and was on the Texas Section staff as the Community Development Coordinator for South Texas. In September she will be awarded the USPTA Tennis Industry Excellence Award at the world conference. Punam has been ranked in the top 5 junior college doubles teams in the nation. She is a two-year All-American, NJCAA. She played #1 for Louisiana Tech University; NCAA Division I. She has also held state and national rankings as an adult in singles and mixed doubles. Punam has moved from San Antonio to Corpus Christi with her husband Steve and their son's Arjun (4yr) and Kishan (2yr).
